We describe the results of the insecticide activity of Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner subsp. kurstaki (B.t.k.) based preparations against the European corn borer (E.c.b.), Ostrinia nubilalis (Hb.) (Lepidoptera, Pyralide) infesting protected sweet pepper. In 1991, one and 3 weeks interval treatments of Delfin reduced E.c.b. fruit damages compared to control. In 1992, both Lepinox and Delfin reduced damage compared to control, but there was no statistical difference between the two formulations. Two treatments against the E.c.b. second generation larvae were sufficient to reduce damages. When the E.c.b. attacks are high, as in 1992 when % of damage in the control ranged between 34.8 and 43.7, we suggest a spray interval schedule of 6-7 days. The spreader sticker pinolene in our trials did not show any effect on the B.t.k. insecticide acitivity and/or its persistence. The importance of correct monitoring of E.c.b. adults, using traps baited with sex pheromones and phenylacetaldehyde to permit a precise timing of microbial control treatments is briefly discussed
