Cereal samples obtained from sites in Southland, New Zealand, which had not been exposed to the new fungicide prochloraz were inoculated with Pseudocercosporella and then tested for carbendazim and prochloraz sensitivity. All isolates evaluated were sensitive to prochloraz, and the incidence of resistance to carbendazim was also relatively low, indicating that under New Zealand conditions there would be a low risk of resistance to the new fungicide.
