Long term management of wheat rotations to maintain production and soil fertility
1994
Heenan, D.P. (New South Wales Agriculture, Wagga Wagga (Australia))
Gives an overview of results obtained from long term projects which involved using various grain, legume and pasture crops in rotations with wheat. Also being considered were different tillage practices and the effects of different levels of lime application. Improvements in soil structure, soil fertility, wheat yields and wheat protein quality were obtained in most cases, but improvements were variable depending upon seasonal conditions, wheat varieties and the rotational crop used the previous season.
