Pesticide applications need to be maximised to make the control of tsetse flies economical. Spraying has to be timed correctly to interrupt the tsetse fly life cycle. Weather conditions have to be taken into consideration and the flying pattern of the aircraft has to be worked out. Additionally, the spraying equipment must be calibrated properly to ensure the correct drop size and spray rate of insecticide is delivered
