Growth vigor, productivity and need of pruning in the growth and productivity period according to Sitt are evaluated in 10 apricot genotypes planted on apricot seedlings at Lednice in Moravia, Czech Republic. Pruning took place in three stages: a)spring pruning, b)Sitt pruning in late May, c)first corrective pruning in late June and second corrective pruning after harvest in mid-August. Velkopavlovicka LE-12/2 was a control cultivar. Some genotypes had the growth vigor lower by 18.93 % than the control. Genotype P 2981 had the weakest growth vigor. A significant correlation (r=-0.83++) was determined between the rank of genotype growth vigor evaluated by scores and the measuring of trunk circumference. There was not any significant correlation between the growth vigor and demands for pruning. But there were significant differences in the need of pruning between the particular genotypes. The correlation between the blossom bud mortality percentage and the productivity in kg per tree was important but statistically insignificant (r=0.57). This correlation confirms the fact that the number of blossom is a basic condition but not a guarantee of productivity. Poloprovoz 373 genotype is a promising one in the set concerned. It requires more pruning, but it has a lower growth vigor, good fruit quality and more than four times higher productivity than the control in the given period.
