Phenology of beech (Fagus sylvatica) stand with various stocking
1995

Phenological observations of 85 to 90 years old beech parent stand are presented in the paper. The phenological observations were realized on four partial plots with various stocking (0.3; 0.5; 0.7 and 0.9) from 1989 to 1992. Every year we observed the same 286 individuals of beech stand on the whole experimental permanent plot. Based on data observed in the field, we found the date when more than 50% from the total amount of the observed individuals reached a given phenophase. The results of observations showed the minimal differences (1 to 2 days) in the start and course of spring phenophases of the stand in dependence on its stocking. On the other hand, the marked differences between the years in the date of reaching a given phenophase occurred. The autumn phenophases were not markedly different on the particular partial plots (like spring phenophases), only the differences between the years occurred. We did not find out any dependence between the term of bud bursting and the term of defoliation, since early defoliated individuals contained even early bud bursting trees and late bud bursting trees, indifferent ones, too.
