Virus diseases of wheat in Italy

إنجليزي. To date, many viruses have been identified on wheat in Italy. Among these the most important are soil-borne wheat mosaic virus (SBWMV), transmitted by the fungus Polymyxa graminis, and barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV), transmitted by aphids in a persistent manner. Wheat spindle streak mosaic virus (WSSMV), also transmitted by Polymyxa graminis, is less widespread, but it can be often found in conjunction with SBWMV, increasing symptom severity and crop losses. Wheat dwarf virus, transmitted by leafhoppers, has been only recently identified in Italy. The authors present data about the incidence, the molecular and biological properties of these virus diseases and their interaction with agro-ecological conditions, in order to suggest the best control measures for each of them

Tra di esse le piu' diffuse sono il virus del mosaico comune del frumento (soil-borne wheat mosaic virus = SBWMV), trasmesso dal fungo Polymyxa graminis e il virus del nanismo giallo dell'orzo (barley yellow dwarf virus = WSSMV), anch'esso trasmesso da Polymyxa e' meno diffuso, e si trova spesso in infezione mista con SBWMV. Il virus del nanismo del grano (wheat dwarf virus = WDV), trasmesso da cicadellidi, e' stato solo recentemente e sporadicamente identificato in Italia. Gli Autori illustrano dati sulla diffusione dei suddetti virus in Italia, sulle loro proprieta' biologiche e molecolari e sulle loro interazioni con l'ambiente agroecologico, al fine di individuare gli interventi di lotta piu' appropriati per ciascuno di essi
