The quality of wood-based materials as a condition for applicability and competitiveness

This article deals with the importance of the quality of wood-based materials. Not only technological properties are important, but also some ecological characteristics which affect our well-being and good health. Some wood-based materials made of disintegrated wood are presented, including their properties and some standards of greater relevance, and a brief description of ways of ensuring the satisfactory quality of such materials is given, which is important if competitiveness in the market-place is to be maintained. In the article it is pointed out that suitable testing laboratories are urgently needed for the needs of, and to th the advantage of the wood-processing industry.
