Animal breeding in Slovenia after serfdom redemption

Article describes efforts to improve animal breeding in middle part of Slovenia (called Kranjska at that time). These efforts began in 18th century, and showed first more important results after the realized feudal obligations for farmers in 1848. "Kranjska Agricultural society" had a special role during these processes. The main characteristics of agriculture connected with animal breeding are also described, such as: land structure, land ownership, increasing of number of animals and improvement of structure, breeding of steers, the increasing importance of milk production, foundation of milk cooperatives, increasing of number of pigs, horse breeding and the fall in numbers of sheep and goats.
