Plant parasitic nematodes associated with some root crops in Uganda

Preliminary studies carried out to identify nematode parasites of Cassava and sweet potatoes in Uganda show that root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne sp., the lesion nematodes, Pratylenchus brachyurus and Pratylenchus goodeyi, the spiral nematodes, Scutellonema brachyurum, Helicotylenchus sp. and Helicotylenchus multicinctus, the reniform nematode, Rotylenchulus reniformis were associated with cassava while those with sweet potatoes include Meloidogyne sp., P. brachyurus, P. goodeyi, Helicotylenchus sp. and R. reniformis
