An investigation was carried out to determine the degree of the soil pollution with heavy metals and their influence upon some vegetative and reproductive manifestations of the cv. Bolgar, grown in the region of the non-ferrous metal works near Plovdiv (Brestnik village). An increased quantity of heavy metals was established in the upper surface soil layer (0-10cm). In the next deeper soil layer (up to 40 cm) a significant decrease of the content of heavy metals was found - up to 4 times less. The incresed content of heavy metals in the soil does not influence the indicators of the fruitfulness and the yields of the vine plants of cv. Bolgar. The highest content of heavy metals was found in the cluster, then in the seeds (5-10 times less), polluted by the berry skins, and the least content was found in the fleshy part of the berries. In the grapes washed with water the content of the heavy metals in the cluster and in the skins of the berries decreased from 1,5 up to 4 times.
