Control of pests on potato in calendar system. The Green Peach Aphids (GPA), Myzus persicae Sulzer and Potato Tuber Moth (PTM), Phthorimaea operculella Zell. are serious pests on potato not only in highland but also in midelevation as well. Unwise use of chemical insecticide has led to the development of GPA that are resistant to a certain pesticide. IPM offers alternative tactics one of which is insecticide should be used if action threshold is already achieved. This experiment was aimed to evaluate the efficacy of action threshold in controlling GPA and PTM at different cultural practices of midelevation potato. The experiment was conducted in Magelang Central Java, from July to October 1993. Strip plot design was used with 4 (four) replications. The result indicated that GPA and PTM populations were consistently lower at potato -leaf intercropping, sanitations and mulch plots. The use of action threshold could reduce the number of insecticide applications by 50 percent. Combination between treatments give improved yield.
