The People's Republic of China and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago cooperated technically on a bamboo project. In Trinidad and Tobago there are five genera and twelve species of bamboo the most common Bambusa vulgaris. In China of forty genera there are three hundred species, the most common being Nan Bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens mazel en H. de Lelaie). This species accounts for 80 per cent of all bamboo found in China. Bamboo reproduces by two methods; naturally by sexual reproduction and manmade - artificially or vegetatively. The later is the faster method of reproduction. Bamboo can be treated in many ways to make it resistant to pest, water corrosion and fire. It can also be made beautiful by bleaching and colouring.
