A population of thin-lipped grey mullet Liza ramada was studied. A total of 347 mullet were captured and about 90 % of the specimens were females. The major upstream migration occurred until the summer months. The length-weight relationship indicated good condition, probably due to high food availability. Specimens from the 2+ to 8+ age groups were collected and 85 % of the individuals had a total length (TL)/-280 mm. The upstream lack of smaller specimens could have resulted from: (i) salinity gradient stress, feeding stres and a weaker resistance compared to that of the adults, mainly for the 0+ individuals; (ii) their sexual immaturity
