We assessed the dispersion and density of the common carp in fishing grounds by means of the tagging and release of 1,025 specimens. Recreational angling has been used for subsequent recapture. Carp were released into the reservoirs's uppermost sector, most intensively influenced by strong and changing two-directional flowing of water. The released fish moved very rapidly towards the more quiet, wider and deeper downstream located sectors. Of the total number of fish evaluated, tagged and recaptured, 55,2 % of specimens were captured in the most remote lowest reservoir sector. The assessed total number of common carp in the reservoir was 7,660 specimens, i.e., 85.1 per hectare of the fishing ground, the assessed biomass of the carp was 11,107.9 kg, i.e. 123.4 kg.ha** (-1).
