Effect of soil cultivation and fertilization on quality of sugar beet roots

The technological parameters of sugar beet were studied: sugar content, alpha-amino nitrogen concentration, sodium and potassium concentrations, refined sugar production, refined sugar yielding, losses of sugar in the molasses and coefficient of alkalinity. Three-year field experiments with two different ways of cultivation were established. Organic manure and mineral fertilizers were applied according to the diagnostic method, and cultivation without fertilization was done as another variant. Three-year results confirmed strong dependence between sugar beet quality and the course of meteorological conditions. Fertilization influenced significantly both the sugar content and sodium concentration. Different system of soil cultivation highly significantly affected only alpha-amino nitrogen concentration in sugar beet roots.
