Participatory gender analysis as an instrument for social changes
1997
Wade, S. | Zambrana, J.
Research is one of many tools that brings about social change. Participatory research aims at developing "critical consciousness, to improve lives of those involved in the research process, and to transform fundamental societal structures and relationships". this paper describes a Bolivian development organisation's attempt to approach the goals of participatory research through the implementation of gender analyses in four Bolivian Andean village communities. The experience ofdoing participatory gender analyses on which this paper is based comes from a NOVIB (Dutch international co-operation organisation) funded research project, the "Gender Trajectory", in partnership with a local non-profit development organisation, Centrode Servicios y Asistencia a la Produccion Triguera (CESAT).
