The Norway spruce (Picea abies) health state development modelling with satellite data in the Giant Mts.

Ten permanent study plots were selected in the area of the Giant Mts. in Norway spruce stands. A comparison of the results on terrestrially assessed health state (on the basis of defoliation) of the stands and processed LANDSAT TM satellite records of remote sensing was carried out. Both the series of defoliation assessments and the surrounding within rasters of the forest condition indices (based on satellite imagery) are available by each selected plot. Defoliation was evaluated for all living trees of the plot using six defoliation classes. Relationship between defoliation and forest condition index was described on the basis of a regression model. There are some relations of selected parameters - its properties change from year to year.
