Response of ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) Gajah cultivar to types of mulches

This field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of mulching materials on ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) growth and production. The three materials used for mulching were coconut leaves, paddy straw, and long bean stem. The treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with three replicates. In general the results showed that mulching application increased ginger growth viz., leaf number on mainstem, total leaf number, plant height, and knob yield. However, the pseudostem number was not affected significantly. There were no significant effects of the types of mulching materials on ginger growth and knob yield
