Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) needs potassium and some micro nutrients for its growth. The ash of fruit bunch of oil palm could be a potential source of potassium. The research was conducted at the green house of the Research Institute for Spices and Medicinal Crops, Bogor to evaluate the response of vanilla stem cuttings to oilpalm fruit bunch ash and micro foliar fertilizer. The treatment were arranged factorially in a randomized block design. The factors tested were dosages of K fertilizer from oilpalm fruit bunch ash (0, 4, 8 and 12 g per plant) and foliar fertilizer (0 and 0.1 percent). Results showed that the application of fruit bunch ash and foliar fertilizer had positively affected the growth of vanilla stem cuttings. Generally, the application of bunch ash without foliar fertilizer showed linier response to shoot length, number of leaves shoot and root dry weight. If this application was combined with foliar fertilizer, the response would be quadratic and higher than that without foliar fertilizer. The growth of seedling (shoot length, number of leaves, shoot and root dry weight) was better if micro fertilizer was applied. Besides the application of micro fertilizer could increase the efficiency of the application of ash of fruit bunch
