In order to determine the effects of application times of monocrotophos on the infestation of insect pests in mungbean, an experiment was conducted in Pasaman West Sumatra from June to August 1991. Application times of monocrotophos tested were : 1, 3, 5 and 7 weeks after planting (WAP), and all their possibility combination A randomized complete block design with three replications was used in this experiment. The result showed that application of monocrotophos on 1 WAP tended to decrease the beanfly (Ophiomyia phaseoli) infestation, and application on 5 and/or 7 WAP tended to decrease the bean pod borer (Maruca testulalis) infestation. The highest yield of mungbean was found on treatment of 1+3+5+7 WAP (12.7 qu/ha), followed by treatments of 3+5+7 WAP (11.7 qu/ha), 1+3+5 WAP (11.7 qu/ha), 3+7 WAP (11.0 qu/ha), and 5+7 WAP 5+7 WAP (10.8 qu/ha), which were significantly higher than that of control (6.5 qu/ha). Treatments applied once tended to have higher yield than that of control
