[Potency of water utilization of the Cisadane river as viewed from water quality]

The investigation on water quality of the Cisadane river was conducted from March to September 1992. The result shows that water quality in the upstream to the downstream were found to fluctuate. Turbidity, nitrate, KMn04 value and BOD tend to increase, while dissolved oxygen tends to decrease. However, in general water quality of the Cisadane river is adequately good. The physical-chemical index of water vary from 70 to 81, and the water quality belong to class 2 and 3. Based on the tested parameters, water quality of the Cisadane river is acceptable as raw drinking water, except the number of coli exceeding the criteria. The water is also suitable for agriculture and fish farming. Historical data of water quality at the Pasar Baru weir indicate that dissolved oxygen of the water river is slightly increase, while BOD and KMn04 value are slightly decrease
