The effect of supplementation of fresh and meal of Leucaena leaves on the performance of sheep

إنجليزي. The study was conducted to investigate the effect of Lamtoro leaf (Leucaena leucocephala) on the performances of local sheep. Sixteen of local male sheep were distributed to the four treatments, groups the basal diets was 40 percent elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum). Treatment I and II the basic diets were supplemented by 40 percent rice bran, 20 percent fresh Leucaena leaf and 30 percent rice bran, 30 percent fresh leucaena leaf, respectively. In the treatment III and IV, fresh leucaena leaf were substituted by leucaena leaf meal, with the same percentage as the first treatment. Consumption were calculated base on metabolic body weight (MBW = W 0,75). Results showed there were significant effect on average daily gain between sheep were treatment by fresh leucaena leaf meal (P I= 58.96 and P II= 70.12 g/head/day) and Leucaena leaf meal (P III= 37.60 and P IV= 16.26 g/head/day) as well as crude protein consumption (P I= 11.71; P 12.77 vs P III= 18.86; P IV= 9.55 g/kg/MBW), crude fibre consumption (P I= 19.38; P II= 21.56 vs P III= 18.86; P IV= 18.40 g/kg/MBW) and feed convertion (P I= 10.51; P II= 10.21 vs P III= 17.87; P IV= 37.00). There were no significantly effect on dry matter consumption and total digestible nutrients consumption. It was concluded that the fresh leucaena leaf indicated the best effect, compared to leucaena leaf meal. Further the utilization of 20 percent have was better comparing to 30 percent leucaena leaf meal
اظهر المزيد [+] اقل [-]الأندونيسية. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh cara pemberian daun lamtoro (Leucaena leucocephala) terhadap penampilan domba lokal jantan. Enam belas ekor domba lokal jantan umur 6 bulan, berat badan 11-14 kg, dibagi menjadi empat perlakuan pakan, dengan pakan dasar rumput gajah (Pennisetum purpureum) sebanyak 40 persen. Perlakuan I diberi suplemen dedak halus 40 persen dan daun lamtoro segar sebesar 20 persen. Perlakuan II, dedak halus 30 persen dan daun lamtoro segar 30 persen. Perlakuan III, dedak halus 40 persen dan tepung daun lamtoro sebesar 20 persen dan pelakuan IV, dedak halus 30 persen dan tepung daun lamtoro 30 persen. Konsumsi dihitung berdasarkan berat badan (W) metabolik (BBM = W 0,75). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pertambahan berat badan harian antara domba yang diberi tepung daun lamtoro segar (P I= 58,95 : P II = 70,12 g/ekor/hari), dengan domba yang diberi daun lamtoro (P III= 37,60; P IV= 16,26 g/ekor/hari), demikian juga tentang konsumsi protein kasar (P I= 11,71; P II=12,77 dengan P III= 10,65; PIV= 9,55 g/kg BBM), serat kasar (P I= 19,38; P II= 21,56 dengan P III=18,86; P IV= 18,40 g/kg BBM) dan konversi pakan (P I= 10,51; P II = 10,21 dengan P III= 17,89; P IV= 37,00) sedangkan konsumsi bahan kering dan total digestible nutriens (TDN) tidak menunjukkan perbedaan. Disimpulkan bahwa pemberian daun lamtoro segar memberikan hasil lebih baik daripada bentuk tepung daun. Pemberian dalam bentuk tepung daun sebesar 20 persen hasilnya lebih baik dibandingkan dengan pemberian sebesar 30 persen
