Living conditions in Namibia: Basic description with highlights

This publication is the main report of the National Household Income and Expenditure Survey (NHIES) which is the first module of the National Household Survey Programme endorsed by the Government of Namibia in 1993. It provides a description of the living conditions in Namibia concerning economic activity, housing and infrastructure, possession of capital goods and property, economic standards, as well as consumption and expenditure patterns. The statistics are disaggregated by important domains of study like the 13 regions, rural and urban areas, sex of head of household, main language, household consumption and expenditure patterns. Separate chapters deal with the capital city of Windhoek and the harbour town of Walvis Bay, domestic workers and farm workers. The report is divided into 12 chapters with the executive summary giving an overview of the first 9 chapters. A list of tables is included in the back.
