Characterization of tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus L.) cultivated in Poland [beta-oinen, elemicin, sabinene]

Development changes, chemical composition of essential oil and its gathering in plants during two years of tarragon vegetation were analysed. It was found that the highest amount of herb were obtained in August as in the first so in the second year of cultivation. Hoever, in the second year the mass of herb was 2.5 times bigger than in the first year. As well in one- as in two-year old plants the maximum content of essential oil was noted in July. The analysis of essential oil showed that elemicin is its main compound, irrespective of the time of harvest. It was also found beta-oinen and sabinene dependence and elemicin content
