Evaluation of embryogenic and androgenic potentials in tissue cultures of Moroccan barley

In-vitro experiments were conducted to evaluate embryogenic and androgenic potentials in tissue cultures of 10 cultivars (four 2-row and six 6-row) and 10 local populations (6-row) of barley. Results indicated significant genotypic variability among Moroccan germplasm. Immature embryos from 2-row cultivars produced callus, with somatic embryos in 30.6 percent of cultures compared with only 2.9 percent in 6-row derived cultures. Similar differences were noted for callus production from cultured anthers
