In the 30-50-ies in the former USSR in order to lay a technical base for agriculture a network of MTSs was created. The MTSs played very important part introducing new agricultural machinery, rendering hire of agricultural machinery to collective and state farms, as well as an aid at compiling production plans, substantiating crop rotations, providing work organization, training of personnel and so on. The second section of the book provides an excursus into a history of the MTSs and describes their role in mechanization of agricultural production. Rising contractual relations between MTSs and collective farms in 50-ies are described as well
