Genetic evaluation of Valdostana young bulls for beef traits

إنجليزي. Aim of this note is to present results from the genetic evaluation program of performance tested Valdostana young bulls. Up to date, 295 young bulls have been involved in the testing program for beef traits that started in 1991 at the test station in Gressan (AO). Data on daily gain and estimated carcass value were collected during the test. Genetic parameters of traits have been estimated using a REML single trait animal model procedure. Heritability of daily gain and estimated carcass value were 0.493 (s.e. 0.116) and 0.577 (s.e. 0.144), respectively. Genetic evaluation of bulls has been conducted through a BLUP single trait animal model including the fixed effects of testing group, genetic group and age at the entrance at the test station. Correlation between BLUP and phenotypic records adjusted for fixed effects were 0.95

إيطالي. [Lo scopo di questa nota consiste nella presentazione dei risultati del programma di valutazione genetica di giovani tori di razza Valdostana sottoposti a performance test. Il programma di valutazione per le caratteristiche delle carni, condotto presso la stazione di Gressan (AO) e iniziato nel 1991, ha interessato finora 295 torelli. Durante il test vengono raccolti i dati sugli incrementi giornalieri e sul valore stimato delle carcasse. I parametri genetici dei caratteri sono stati stimati utilizzando la procedura REML Animal Model single trait. L'ereditabilita' dell'incremento ponderale giornaliero e del valore stimato delle carcasse era pari, rispettivamente, a 0.493 (e.s. 0.116) e 0.577 (e.s. 0.144). La valutazione genetica dei torelli e' stata condotta mediante procedura BLUP single trait animal model, comprendente gli effetti fissi del gruppo testato, il gruppo genetico e l'eta' all'entrata nella stazione di prova. Le correlazioni fra BLUP e rilievi fenotipici adattati per gli effetti fissi erano pari a 0.95]
