Genetic analysis of some chemical traits in burley tobacco
1999
Butorac, J. (Tobacco Inst., Zagreb (Croatia)) | Poljak, M.
Four parent burley tobacco cultivars, and their six F1 hybrids were separated for the needs of this study. Selected materials from a four-year trial, set up according to the RCBD in four replications, were used to study the manner of inheritance of nicotine, proteins, total nitrogen and ash content by means of the components of genetic variance and regression analysis. According to the components of genetic variance, the significant additive variance was estimated for nicotine, proteins and ash content, while the significant additive and nonadditive variance were estimated for total nitrogen content. Other results point to the presence of overdominant inheritance for all the traits studied as well as to the preponderance of dominant genes over recessive genes.
