The study follows, on the example of the empirical research of the plains near the villages Topolniky and Okoc in the district Dunajska Streda [Slovak Republic], the phenomenon of poverty in the narrower measure of the present Slovak countryside micro-environment. It aims at the diagnosis of poverty in the daily life, showing through the material and social deprivation. It uses the classical ethnological method used in the small communities research, consisting of collecting interviews, biographies of individuals and of families.
