The effect of irrigation by water from the Elbe river in the profiles Litol and Jirice on the content of Hg, Cd, Pb, As, chlorinated and nitrated phenols, aromatic amines and nitroaromates in soil, cabbage and carrot was studied. It was found that the content of Hg, Cd, Pb and As in the Elbe water in the profiles Litol and Jirice is low in the regard of irrigations. Of the measured OXL (organic xenobiotic substances) the Elbe water in the profiles Litol and Jirice was the strongest contaminated by some chlorinated and nitrated phenols. Of nitroaromates - nitrotoluens and dinitrotoluens and of aromatic amines - ethylanilines, diethylanilines and dichloranilines were found in some samples of Elbe water. Concentration of these substances in water, however, did not exceed 1 microg.l/l.
