The Dalesice Water Work consists of the Dalesice Reservoir (480 ha, 381.5 m a.s.l.) and the Mohelno Reservoir (118 ha, 303,3 m a.s.l.). Due to the Reversible Hydroelectric Power Plant, operation and the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant water uptake, there are extreme hydrological and thermal conditions for the existence of fish in the Mohelno Reservoir. Between the upstream and head parts of the Mohelno Reservoir, there are differences in the ichthyocoenosis structure. In the upper part, first of all, species preferring the flowing aquatic environment (Chondrostoma nasus 28.6 %, Leuciscus cephalus 15.3 %) and indifferent species (Rutilus rutilus 30.4 %) occur: contrary to that, in the head part, there are species prefering the stagnant aquatic envirnoment (Abramis brama 15.3 %, Cyprinus carpio 45.9 %). The values of fishing effort (C.P.U.E. - catch per unit of effort) and species diversity (H) were in the reservoir upstream and head parts following: C.P.U.E. = 4.5 and 3.8 g.mE(-2) . hE(-1) respectively; H=1.571 and 0.794 respectively. In the Mohelno Reservoir, natural reproduction was very limited.
