Evaluation of domestic and world assortment of tomatoes

In the years 1996 to 1998 significant properties of tomato assortment were studied. The lowest average firmness of fruits was found in the variety Aneta and most firmed in the variety Beefsteak. As to the content of refractomeric dry matter the requirements over 5 % were filled by the following cultivars: Terra F1, Titan, Red Hunter, New Breeded, Sun 1642, Oxheart, Orbit, Slava Porynia, Denar, Lider, Kabanova and Marathon. The varieties Terra F1, Radka and Marathon contained the most vitamin C. Weight, width, length and index of fruits were different in dependence on the year of cultivation and type of tomatoes. Rounded and elongated oval shapes of fruits with a sign of rib-shape and shallow stalk opening were dominant in the assortment. Colour of mature fruit and flesh was red in all cultivars. The number of flowers in inflorescence mostly ranged from 4 to 8.
