Control of downy mildew (Bremia lactucae L.) of lattuce by the use of resistant cultivars [Lactuca sativa L. - Latium]

إنجليزي. Downy mildew of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.), caused by Bremia lactucae Regel, became the major pathogen of glasshouse winter-grown lettuce crop. Several races of the fungus and the presence of genes for resistance in the host have been described by several AA in the lettuce-B. lactucae interaction. Sixteen commercial lettuce cultivars indicated as resistant to all the known races of B. lactucae have been evaluated in greenhouse at Formia (Latina - Italy) for resistance to the pathotypes present in the area of Agro Pontino and for agronomical and qualitative traits. Naturally infected lettuce seedlings were used as sources of inoculum. A susceptible cultivar was sown every two lines in order to check the presence and the distribution of the fungus. As a result, all the cultivars tested confirmed the resistance to B. lactucae. Small necrotic spots caused by the fungus were observed on leaves of the cv. Ninja and Bra 1939. The use of resistant cultivars in the control of the disease and the need of monitoring pathogen populations of the fungus are briefly discussed
اظهر المزيد [+] اقل [-]إيطالي. La peronospora (Bremia lactucae L.) rappresenta la malattia chiave della lattuga coltivata in serra nel periodo invernale. Una alternativa all'insoddisfacente contenimento del patogeno con mezzi chimici puo' essere rappresentata dall'impiego di cultivar dotate di resistenze genetiche. Per valutarne la validita' sono state messe a confronto 16 cv. di lattuga cappuccio dichiarate resistenti a B. lactucae, per le quali si sono valutate la resistenza ai patotipi nell'Agro Pontino e le performance produttive in presenza di due diversi sesti d'impianto. Le cv. in prova sono state infine sottoposte al giudizio di 25 esperti per la valutazione visiva dei parametri merceologici (fondo, chiusura, forma). Sono stati registrati attacchi di B. lactucae sulla cv. Ninjae, in misura minore, sulla cv. Bra 1939. Le migliori performance produttive sono state conseguite, con il sesto di cm 30x25 dalle cv. Bra 1939, CLX 1253, 6132, Demetra e Enya e con il sesto di cm 30x30 dalle cv. Enya, CLX 1253, Bra 1939 e Rosalie. Per quanto attiene alla valutazione dei parametri merceologici, particolare apprezzamento hanno riscosso le cv. Bra 1939 e 388, seguite dalle cv. 6132, 316-95 e Samurai
