The effects of potassium levels (0, 45, 90 kg K2O/ha) on growth, cane yield and sucrose content of four sugarcane varieties (Bz-127, F-156, Q-90, NCO-376) grown at upland condition were studied at the Central Experiment Station of the Mulawarman University at Teluk Dalam from October, 1991 to December, 1992. Results of this experiment showed that potassium fertilizer of 0, 45 and 90 kg K2O/ha did not affect growth and cane yield, significantly. Cane yields were 52.86 Mg/ha, 56.04 Mg/ha and 57.97 Mg/ha at the level of 0, 45 and 90 kg K2O/ha, respectively. However, sucrose content was affected significantly by potassium fertilizer. The highest sucrose content was obtained at 90 kg K2O/ha, it was 8.08 percent and the lowest was 7.33 percent at 0 kg K2O/ha (control). Among the four varieties, F-156 produced the highest yield, it was 61.84 Mg/ha and the sucrose content was 8.62 percent
