إنجليزي. World fish catches have reached a peak level of approx. 100 - 110 Mio. t. p.a. (1995: 112,3 Mio. t.). About 80 Mio. t. are available for human consumption, representing about 20% of the overall protein supply to the world population. Out of more than 24.000 fish species, 200 are important in fisheries. Only 20 species account for 40% of the world total catch

Die fuer den menschlichen Konsum zur Verfuegung stehende Fangmenge von 80 Mio.t. traegt etwa 20% zur Proteinversorgung der Weltbevoelkerung bei und liegt damit in der Groessenordnung der Produktion aus der Rinder- und Schweinezucht
