Basic typology of rural municipalities in the Slovak Republic from the demographic development point of view

The regionalization of rural space enables a closer aiming of the conceptual and strategic goals. However, it does not supply the tools for allocation decisions on the government support policies of rural development. To this aim, there serves the rural areas typology of the so-called socio-economical types of villages, which differ in the level of integration into the regional respectively global economical structures, namely differentiation into remote villages, intermediate villages and economically integrated villages. The municipalities are analyzed by size groups, natural population increase, migration increase and demographic development. On the base of these criteria, villages are indicated as in extinction (41.7%), stagnation (3.5%) and development (54.8%).
