Body remainders of common bream (Abramis brama) and 3 still moving plerocercoids of the cestode Ligula intestinalis, in the intestine of pike-perch (Stizostedion lucioperca) were found. Content of the most amino acids (g/16 g N) in plerocercoids from the intestine of pike-perch (abnormal location) are higher than those from the body cavity of various cyprinid species (normal location). The differences are statistically highly significant (P0.01) in valine (4.72) and glutamic acid (14.80). They are significant (P0.05) in isoleucine (4.17), lysine (0.71) and alanine (5.34). The increased content of these AAs are explained as the parasite's response to the stress under unfavourable environmental conditions.
