Concentrations of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (U.S. EPA priority pollutants PAHs) were studied in sedimented dust (n=30) collected by an electric vacuum cleaner in two animal feed factories in the district of Hodonin in 1995 and 1996. The average sum of 16 PAHs for sedimented dust was 752 microg/kg, the average sum of seven carcinogenic PAHs was 110 microg/kg (14.6 % of the total sum of 16 PAHs), and average Bbenzo(a)pyrene concentration was 11 microg/kg (10 % of the total sum of 7 carcinogenic PAHs). Of the carcinogenic PAHs chrysene (35.5 microg/kg), benzo(a)anthracene (20.6 microg/kg) and benzo(b)fluoranthene are prevalent in dust deposits.
