Effect of nitrogen fertilizers on pool of labile forms of sulphur and nitrogen in soil

In incubation experiments with 45 soils from top soils of significant localities of winter rapeseed growing in the Czech Republic the possibility of influencing the pool of labile sulphur (H2O-extractable) forms was tested by mineralizable processes in interaction with fertilization by ammonium nitrate, urea and ammonium sulfate. Results of incubation experiments indicate that in the soils of Czech Republic no one can expect more significant contribution to nutrition of sulphur-demanding crops from mobilization of pools of total sulphur in soil. On the contrary, immobilization of labile sulphur which was strengthened by application of N-fertilizers was found.
