Effects of sulphur compounds deposition on rusty soils in the vicinity of Torun inorganic industry works "POLCHEM"

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of acidic deposition on the rusty soils (Cambic Arenosol according FAO-Unesco) in the vicinity of Torun Inorganic Industry Works "POLCHEM". Various parameters for measuring soil acidification were used. The results obtained failed to reveal any relationship between soil acidity and the level of deposition or changes in plant cover. It has been found that the most easily measurable effect of acidic deposition is loss in soil organic matter. Most of the physicochemical parameters used in the present work correlate with the oraganic matter content
