The results presented in the article were obtained during a 16-year long-term field experiment on two crop rotations: A - potato-winter wheat-spring barley-maize, and B - potato-winter wheat (green manure)-spring barley-grass-clover mixture. The results show that dehydrogenase and acid phosphatase activities in the soil as well as the number of c.f.u. of bacteria were higher in crop rotation B than those in crop rotation A. The highest and significant correlation coefficients were found between the grain yields of barley and acid phosphatase activity. Dehydrogenase activity and the crop yields were correlated only in the case of samples collected in June, and for alkaline phosphatase no similar relations were found
