Available soil water content during vegetation period - comparison of results of measurements and simulations

Investigations are based on soil moisture measurements which were made in three different field experiments with winter wheat in 1994-95. Soil water content at field capacity and at wilting point was determined by Trzecki method based on soil granulometric composition and humus content. Field experiments were conducted on two soils with SMFCF 320 and 343 mm. Results of measured soil available water content were compared with simulations made with model WOFOST. Simulated available water content were significantly overestimated if compare with results of measurements. Qualities of simulation were better if the quantities of rainfall infiltrated into the soil were limited to 80 percent
