The effect of high doses aluminium in sand with addition of potassium hydrogel (Akrygel K) on production of biomass, accumulation of Al, K, Ca and P in leaves, stems and roots as well as gas of plant was studied in pot experiments. The results showed that aluminium depressed growth of roots more than growth of tops which was caused by much higher accumulation of Al in roots than in leaves or stems. Increased concentration of Al in medium significantly decreased stomatal conductance of leaves, rate of phytosynthesis and transpiration as well as content of Ca in all parts of plant. However, it increased the content of K and P. Hydrogel addition to sand significantly decreased aluminium toxicity for plants, which was connected with clearly lower accumulation of Al and greater uptake and translocation of Ca to tops
