إنجليزي. The paper briefly illustrates the most meaningful steps that charaterized the evolution of parasitology and microbiology from the thinkers of ancient Greece to Spallanzani. In this contest, the Author outlines the characters of those scholars who, thanks to their insights and their discoveries, made the development of scientific thought possible in the centuries, even though progress was not easy and was often hindered by the official science. It was so possible to move from the beliefs based on popular gullibility to the results of Spallanzani's tests based on scientific rigour and method
