إنجليزي. The study has been carried out to examine the main morphological indexes in 72 Amiatan donkeys (46 females and 26 males) belonging to the provinces of Grosseto and Siena, in Tuscany. On the basis of comparison between males and females, we have observed strong differences between sexes. Males underline an higher skeletal strength; females mean lighter, with a longer head, higher longitudinal than transversal traits in the front and a good developed pelvis: this trait could predict for the female a good aptitude for the reproductive career. Some transversal traits show a slower evolution as a result of a comparison between five years younger and older donkeys. Males seem less precocious than females

Sono stati analizzati i principali indici morfologici di 72 asini amiatini (46 femmine e 26 maschi) appartenenti ad allevamenti situati nelle province di Grosseto e Siena. In base ai confronti tra le medie relative ai sessi si e' potuto osservare un evidente dimorfismo sessuale. Il maschio appare infatti piu' alto, con impalcatura scheletrica piu' consistente, mentre la femmina si presenta piu' leggera, dotata di testa piu' lunga e di diametri longitudinali piu' sviluppati rispetto ai trasversali nell'anteriore, con un buon sviluppo del posteriore specialmente per quanto concerne il bacino: tale conformazione lascia pronosticare una buona attitudine alla carriera riproduttiva. Il confronto tra soggetti di eta' inferiore e superiore a cinque anni indica una piu' lenta evoluzione di alcuni diametri trasversi. I maschi sembrano infine mostrare una minore precocita' somatica
