Subsidence of peatland on Wizna object with a functioning prototype reclamation

The paper presents the results of measurements of peatland subsidence on a meadow Wizna object. Detailed studies were carried out on two plots on a well watered moss peat of the MtIaa type with a 5-6 m thick peat layer and on a periodically well watered sedge-moss peat of the MtIIcc type and a peat thickness of 3-4 m. Studies carried out between 1971 and 1996 demonstrated a slow surface subsidence on a peatland drained in the years 1963-64. From 1975 to 1995 the peatland surface subsided on average by 0.3 cm annually on the peat type MtIaa and by twice that i.e. by 0.6 cm annually on the peat type MtIIcc
