Consequences of dense standard releasing in the oak (Quercus pubescens Willd. and Quercus cerris L.) coppice forests of good productivity and managed at rotations longer than 15 years [Tuscany]

إنجليزي. The paper concerns the coppice oak forests of Tuscany and other region of Northern Appennin. At present, coppice rotations have been prolonged from the tradictional 12-14 years up to 25-30 years; tree branches are left to humify the soil and no more removed to sell faggots; moreover, forest authorities impose to release a high number of standard trees. Those strong reductions of the periodical biomass removal cause a strong upgrading of the soil fertility but also helps the settelement of tree species of minor value (as Ostrya carpinifolia Scop.) and of many bushy species. Oak regeneration is therefore strongly hampered. A too dense storey of standard trees can also shade down many oak stools. Some remedies are suggested, as the leaving of only groups of standards and the planting of oak and other valued species

إيطالي. Questo articolo riguarda i cedui di querce della Toscana e di altre regioni dell'Appennino. Attualmente i turni dei cedui sono stati allungati da 12-14 anni fino a 25-30 anni; non si rimuove piu' la ramaglia che ordinariamente veniva venduta come fascina; inoltre, le autorita' forestali impogono il rilascio di numerose matricine. Queste sensibili riduzioni della rimozione periodica della biomassa provocano un forte miglioramento del suolo, ma contemporaneamente, favoriscono l'insediamento di specie arboree di minore valore (come il carpino nero) e anche di specie arbustive. La rinnovazione delle querce rimane, pertanto, impedita mentre uno strato di matricine troppo denso puo' far perire molte ceppaie di querce. Vengono suggeriti vari rimedi come il rilascio delle matricine per gruppi e la piantagione di querce o di altre specie di pregio subito dopo il taglio del ceduo
