Multi-criteria analysis of alternative strategies for using treated wastewater in agriculture
1999
Ahmed Talaat, A.M.
Recycled wastewater is a source of additional water for agriculture industry and may be domestic uses in arid regions. Several criteria should be considered when treated wastewater is used in irrigation. This study introduces the Multi-criteria as an approach that could help decision-makers in selecting the best strategy based on environmental balance. Through an application on a pilot project at El-Saff region in Egypt, the study proves the inconveniences of using anaerobic criteria in planning and management of similar projects. Some of post construction problems like violation physical constraint, farmer's acceptability, health and environmental risks could have been avoided if good strategies for treated wastewater formulated and analyzed carefully.
