Evaluation of the roads for agricultural transport on an example of selected commune

Road network for internal (farm-field) agricultural transport was evaluated in Slomniki commune region of typical agricultural production profile. The evaluation was based on standard indices: road network density, share of roads in productive area and transport difficulty. First two indices connected with spatial configuration and agrarian structure, were within common standards for agricultural areas. However, poor quality of road surface affected the transport difficulty index; the inputs on farm transport were higher by 44-535% than in case of good asphalt pavement. That caused slower travel speed, less transport capacity, higher fuel consumption, increased wear and reduced reliability of the vehicles
